I'm about to become really unpopular here... (none / 0)

But I'm not going to hold a good political move against Bob Casey.  It's about time the Democratic Party fought like Republicans (if only they'd fight against Republicans with the same tenacity).

The implication is... (none / 0)

that Casey (or others) had something to do with spiking any mention of a legitimate primary contender.  IF such dishoesty actually happened and you're apologizing for it... yeah, I'd see why you'd become unpopular.  Resorting to lying de-legitimizes the candidate and the party machinery.

That said: within-the-rules "gaming" is reasonable.  In a Darwinistic sort of way it might actually be necessary... if nothing else so the loop-holes are found and closed.

Dishonesty though? Not so.

100% agree with you. While you never like to see the democratic process stifled, both parties muscle out the smaller, less viable candidates. I would prefer the voters choose the nominee not the party. But thats how politics works. Not just in PA Senate race '06, but everywhere. It's unfortunate. GO CASEY in '06!

PA Democrats have lost every Senate election in the since 1968, and you are still endorsing the same losing strategy.

But hey, maybe we should just let the party pick the establishment candidate in every election--even the president. And hey, maybe we should abandon the concept of "democracy" altogether. It doesn't matter if the establishment picks "good" candidates for us anyway, right?

AMEN!!!

Many of these state party bozos don't know diddly outside of whoring themselves to corporate donors. It's time we think outside the box and bring in candidates who can frame the issues which Dems believe in, instead of bringing in the kids of former Governors and pay-to-play prostitutes.

That's why I'm trying to start a Draft Anthony Zinni campaign to get him to run for Santorum's seat. Even if Casey wins it would help to turn the debate from Casey's positions on abortion and gay marriage to the extreme derilection of duty in the national security realm on the part of the Rethugs.

Whomever we choose in PA, we need to start coming up with new ideas. It shouldn't be harder to elect a Dem in a Blue state than it is for Philly to win a national championship by any of its sports teams.

Way to go Tim!
