AP Bias - Penn Dem Party Poor Performance (none / 0)

That sort of maneuvering is so much more difficult now that there are alternate media sources besides the conventional media. Do they really think ignoring Pennacchio is going to keep him from running in the primary or keep him from raising money?

I've lost alot of respect for AP over the last few months in watching their coverage of the torture issue. Now that I'm looking I've started noticing selective storytelling by AP in alot of other places.

You lay out a solid case in this diary of poor reporting by AP and perhaps of political bias as well. Your criticism of the powers that be in Harrisburg is also on target.

Kerry won Pennsylvania but Pennsylvania has sent a Republican to the Senate 14 straight times? That's not their only problem as I'm sure you know and have written about. Besides the senatorial shut-outs, what also grabs my attention is the pathetic performance in electing candidates to the U.S. House of Representatives.

The total vote was very close statewide for US Reps in Pennsylvania. Republicans received 2.56 million votes to 2.48 for Democrats. Votes were practically even statewide yet Republicans took 12 seats to Dems 7!

The Dems didn't even field candidates in 3 Pennsylvania House races.

Apparently the Pennsylvania Democratic Party has been functioning poorly for some time. If Casey is their choice I'd want to take an extra hard look at Pennacchio.

Good luck!

Thank you.

Can you put that in an email?

I also forgot to mention that we have filed with the FEC.  There is another requirment.

Re: AP Bias - Penn Dem Party Poor Performance (none / 0)

Sure. I'll send an email to Jackson.

When researching my earlier comment I was surprised at the closeness of the House vote compared to the seats won in Pennsylvania. A tie vote led to a 12 to 7 loss. I assume that gerrymandered districts must be part of the explanation. How many years are likely to go by before Democrats can realistically expect to enact corrective redistricting? From what I've read I have no confidence that the current Pennsylvania Democratic Party has it together enough to accomplish it soon. Unfortunately, the local problem is also a national problem because we need senators and we need reps badly.

If we can win back the state house in '06, and take back a few state senate seats, it's possible we could do it during the next census. I believe that we technically could do it before the census, but obviously not before we take back over the state house.
